Our good friends at Western Whitetail recently did an editor's choice of the best off-road tires, this inspired us to talk about one of our favorite tires that made their list as the best value tire.

Overview
Today we are talking about the BFG All-Terrain, KO2. You guys have all seen these before, they've been around forever, won their first Baja race back in 1972, and literally have been just killing it ever since. So today, we're gonna do what sets some of the features apart on these KO2's, compared to some of the other all-terrains out there.
Tread Design
First off, beginning with their tread design. Pretty obvious, right off the beginning, you can see that they have all these interlocking tread blocks in the center of the tread, in between the shoulder lugs, and that really gives you a lot of variation, as far as biting edges on these tread blocks, gives you that extra bite when you're on-road, when you're off-road, in the sand, the dirt, the mud, the rocks, all that good stuff.
Not to mention these sipes. Now, you can see that there are quite a bit of sipes running all the way through all of the tread blocks, and what's cool about these, is that the sipes do go down all the way through the tread blocks as well, so they're basically going down to the base of the tread block.
Really giving these treads some good flexibility and some good grip, especially when you're on slippery surfaces like water and ice, they're really gonna help with that extra biting ability.
Capabilities
You can see that there are quite a bit of tread voids going along the outer edges of these shoulder lugs here. Another thing you'll see is that they have these staggered shoulder lugs too. So, you get a little extra biting and gripping capability there as well, and the proprietary compound they use gives you a good blend of on-road performance, and also off-road performance.
They have excellent side-biter capabilities, and in the tread design, they have these larger sipes, to help with that extra water extraction and extra dirt extraction, mud extraction, and all of those good things. Really quite the awesome performing tire, if you've run a set of these, you already know. Finally, the BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain Tire has an incredibly long tread life capability as well.
The KO2's now have an E load range rating, for the diesel guys that are looking to pull some extra weight. You can still get a high-performing all-terrain tire in an E load rating, which is awesome. So there are a lot of great things going on with the BFG the KO2's.
