Our first tip is actually nothing to do with your vehicle but rather, you. Make sure you have all of the proper gear for the conditions you're about to endure. Things can happen out on the trail that could render your vehicle stuck and the last thing you want is to be off-roading in the snow, get stuck, and only have a t-shirt and jeans on. Make sure that you check the local weather forecast and pack appropriately. It wouldn't hurt to bring a change of clothes as well as a jacket and some blankets in the event things don't go as planned.
2. Cleaning Products
We all love to show off just how dirty our ride got from all of our adventuring, but eventually, you're going to want to clean it off. It's important to have some cleaning stuff laying around like exterior cleaner, microfiber towels, and wheel cleaning products. If you're really feeling ambitious, you could go as far as detailing your entire vehicle after your trip. Never detailed a vehicle before? No worries, we have a guide to detailing which can be found here! Need some new cleaning products? We carry those as well! Head on over to our Store to browse our cleaning products or click here!
Before you set out for your off-roading trip be sure your vehicle is ready for the challenges that lie ahead. Do your research and find the best possible upgrades you can do to your vehicle within your budget. If you've never modified your vehicle before, you won't believe the difference that some modifications will make. Just make sure you're being smart about your purchases and get something that suits your needs and is good quality. Trust us. You won't regret it. Let's talk about some of the mods you can do to improve your off-road experience.
Grabbing yourself a lift kit will bring so many benefits to the table. First, you will obviously get a lot more ground clearance depending on which lift kit you get. This means that you can now tackle trails that you never would've been able to with stock suspension. Lift kits can also give you better ride quality since their components are often manufactured to be the highest quality. Finally, they just look cool. Almost everything looks good with a lift and they don't always have to be expensive. Companies like Rough Country have great quality lift kits at a low price. If you want something fancier and a bit higher quality, look at companies like BDS. There are tons of options for suspension so be sure to find the one that is right for you.
5. Wheels and Tires
Finally, after you throw that new lift in, your ride might look a little strange with stock wheels and tires. Now is the perfect time to upgrade! Find the right type of tires for what you're going to be doing. If you plan on mostly sticking to the pavement with the occasional dirt road try finding a good all-terrain tire. These will allow you to go through a little bit of off-road terrain and be the quietest offroad tire on the road. Need a more aggressive tire? Hybrid tires combine the practicality and comfort of an all-terrain tire with the off-road performance of a mud tire. These are sort of the best of both worlds though they won't be as good as a mud tire off-road nor as quiet as an all-terrain on the pavement. Finally, if you just want all out performance, pick up a set of mud tires. These will give you the most traction when you're traversing through some tough terrain.
